- Do you think your child will benefit from online tutoring sessions?
- Is your child really engaged when learning online?
- Can they stay focused for at least 20 minutes?
I offer 1:1 and 1:2 online tuition sessions, using multimedia approaches, as well as dual coding when introducing new learning. In order to access online learning, young people should be able to understand symbolic representations.
I create fun and engaging sessions with planned movement breaks and challenges to solve.
These sessions will also be suitable for young people who live overseas or travel.

I can help your child with reading.
In our sessions, we will focus on different aspects of reading, dependent on the needs of your child. We may need to focus on phonics and sight reading, using various approaches, such as decoding, blending and precision teaching. We will work on developing comprehension skills, moving from concrete experiences to more abstract concepts (based on Blanks Levels of Questioning).
If your child is already a fluent sight reader and can access reading at sentence and text levels from various sources, we will work on developing and securing reading comprehension skills, such as deduction and inferencing.

I can help your child with writing.
At the start of our sessions, I will ask your child to do a writing task, based on their interests. This will allow me to assess their gaps in learning and plan an individualised programme of study, based on the National Curriculum guidelines. We will focus on the following aspects: grammar, punctuation and spelling, developing creative writing skills and exploring linguistic features if appropriate. I will ensure that all our writing sessions are purposeful and functional. Where appropriate, I may use Shape Coding or Colourful Semantics to structure their writing tasks.
I use appropriate visuals and scaffolding resources in all my sessions to aid understanding (photos, Widgit symbols, flashcards, writing frames, word banks, etc.)

I can help your child with maths.
Sessions are tailored to the needs of your child. I will do an initial assessment and then plan a personalised study programme based on the National Curriculum. I use the CPA approach in all my lessons. I ensure that children have access to practical resources at all times to deepen their understanding.
If your child is working significantly below their chronological age, I will design a bespoke programme of study, based on their developmental stage, communication abilities and sensory needs to ensure maximum progress in line with their starting points. My learning packages are underpinned by the latest research into how children learn and what works best at various stages of development (based on schematic or prior knowledge).
